How do I clean Color Cuff I reusable tourniquet cuffs?

A copy of the cleaning instructions is provided with each reusable Color Cuff I.

Can the Color Cuff I reusable tourniquet cuffs be sterilized?

No, the reusable tourniquet cuffs cannot be sterilized.

How are the single use Color Cuff II tourniquet cuffs sterilized?

These cuffs are EtO sterilized. The pouch is designed to insure the tourniquet remains sterile until opened and used.

Are the Color Cuff I and II latex free?

Yes, all Color Cuff tourniquets are latex free.

Can the tourniquet tubing also be used for IV or other fluid delivery?

No. The tubing used with the tourniquet system was designed to only be used for connection of tourniquet cuff to the tourniquet pump. It must never be used for any other purposes.

How can I tell if there is an air leak in the tubing, tubing connection or tourniquet cuff?

Cuff and fill line leaks may cause regular, frequent cycling of valves accompanied by repeated or continuous pump motor activity refilling the internal pressure reservoir. This type of leak becomes problematic if the leak volume increases during the procedure, creating a leak rate, which cannot be compensated for by the SmartPump’s maximum flow rate. Discard damaged reusable cuffs, replace damaged cuff O-rings and fill lines and use new, single use disposable cuffs. Failure to comply may result in patient injury.

What is the purpose of the button on the Tourniquet Report printer?

The button on the top surface of the printer is used to advance the labels to the next label perforation. This is typically only done once when a new roll of 500 labels is installed.

What is the significance of illuminated ring around the Tourniquet Report printer's label advance button?

The thin translucent ring around the button on the top of the printer conveys the status of the printer:

  • ring is solid green - Power is connected, the printer is on and the labels are properly aligned.
  • ring is not lit - Power is not applied to the printer or the on/off switch is in the off position. Check the switch (lower right side of the printer) and the power adapter connections.
  • ring is solid yellow or blinking yellow - There is some problem with the printer. Typical problems would include:
    • top of the printer is not fully closed and latched
    • labels are not properly aligned in the printer (see instructions in printer lid)
    • the printer is out of labels
